just.voice.it is voice-first. No blank box to type into — hit record, say what's on your mind, and that's the post. We transcribe it automatically so it's easy to read back, search, or fix later.

No sign up needed. Hit start and you get a station — a random frequency that's yours. Your only way back in is a recovery code, so save it somewhere safe.

The more you post, the more you're heard. Active stations rise to the top of the feed — your older voices stick around, they just don't lead. Ghost stations — those that never post at all — are removed after 48 hours.

Everything is public by default. Anyone can listen. There's no DMs, no algorithm — just voices, newest first. A station can opt into privacy so only approved followers can hear it — see the FAQ below.

Live is hosted by the station. Live audio streams from the host's mic and plays right here in the app. Hosts are responsible for what they say and play, including any music.

Open your mic and broadcast live, no editing, just you talking in real time while anyone tuned to your station listens along. Every live is recorded privately; it only becomes a public replay if you choose to publish it, and unpublished recordings are deleted after 14 days. Live is in testing with a few stations for now, so it isn't open to everyone yet.

I spent years in recruitment, where conversation used to be the whole job — you actually spoke with people. I've watched that erode as ATS systems and AI took over more and more of what used to be a human exchange. I was also in the emerging telecoms market, where people had fun just speaking with strangers on the phone — telephone entertainment products were built entirely around that. Somewhere between those two worlds, I started thinking about how much we've lost simply by not talking to each other anymore.

So I founded just.voice.it around a simple question: what if social media was built for voices instead of text?

just.voice.it is voice-first — anyone can create a station and share short voice recordings. Every voice is public, chronological, and free from recommendation algorithms.

Part social network, part open audio platform — just.voice.it is a place where anyone can tune in and hear real people from around the world.

A founder sharing an idea. A musician sharing a thought. Someone documenting everyday life. Or someone sharing what it feels like to live through moments the rest of the world only sees through headlines.

I want this to be a place where people can hear stories directly from the source — from people on the ground, in their own words, with their own voice. Not filtered, optimised, or rewritten by others.

Because a voice carries something text often cannot: tone, emotion, personality, and humanity.

I'm exploring a different future where authenticity matters more than optimisation and performance.

Do I need to sign up? No. Hit start and you get an anonymous station — a random frequency and a recovery code. No email, no password, no name.

What if I lose my recovery code? It can't be recovered — that's the trade-off for not asking for your email or a password. Upgrade to a username, email, and password any time to secure your station properly.

How long can a voice be? Up to 3 minutes. No script, no edit — hit record, say what's on your mind, post it.

Can I edit a voice after posting? Yes — you can edit its tags and its transcript any time afterward, even though the recording itself stays as you first said it.

Can I delete a voice? Yes, any of your own, any time. If someone's already replied to it, the thread keeps a "— post deleted —" placeholder instead of breaking.

How many tags can I add to a voice? Up to 3, 24 characters each — enough to describe it, not enough to turn into a hashtag wall.

Can I @mention someone? Yes, up to 10 people per voice. A mention only counts if it actually shows up in the transcript — either the speech-to-text caught it, or you typed it in yourself when editing.

Is anything private? Not by default — every voice is public, no DMs, no algorithm deciding what you see, just voices, newest first. A station can choose to go private though, which changes that for their own voices specifically — see below for what that means.

What happens to a station that never posts? It's removed after 48 hours. A station that's posted at least once sticks around — older voices just don't lead the feed the way active ones do.

Can I add a profile photo? Yes, it's optional. Upload one from your station's profile page any time.

What if I hear something I don't like? Report it — from the voice itself or from the station's profile. We review reports and can remove content that shouldn't be there.

Can I go live? Not yet — live is in testing with a few stations, so it isn't open to everyone. Look for the LIVE badge on a profile to listen in, and check the "going live" list to see what's coming up.

Are lives recorded? Yes. Every live is recorded privately so the host can publish a replay afterwards. Only the host can see the recording, and it stays private unless they choose to publish it. Recordings that aren't published are deleted after 14 days.

How does live work? Audio is sent through a streaming server (radio.justvoiceit.com) and plays right here on just.voice.it. A few stations are testing live audio, straight from their mic. Hosts are responsible for what they say and play, including any music. We don't provide music licences. You'll never need to visit that address directly.

Can a station be private? Yes — a station owner can switch their station to private any time. Once private, only approved followers can hear what they post; everyone else sees a locked profile with a follow button. Following a private station sends a request rather than following instantly — the owner approves or denies it, and only once approved do you hear everything they've broadcast.
